Workplace Violence

Violence in the workplace is a serious safety issue with approximately two million victims each year. Violent acts can occur at or away from the workplace. The nature of the event can vary from verbal abuse to physical assault and homicide.

  • Take safety education classes, if provided by your employer, including self-defense classes.
  • Learn and share with other employees so they know what conduct is not acceptable and include in employee manuals or handbooks.
  • Observe your organizational guidelines and report violations to the appropriate company representative.
  • Encourage the use of identification badges, electronic keys, guards, and hand-held alarms in your business or church continuity plan.
